Blog Post # 6

Blog Post # 6

The Network Student is basically the same things we have been blogging on.  It is another example of how technology can help teach kids.  This one has less use for a teacher than any of the others.  It has ways of where students communicate with each other over the internet on things that they have learned.

I do not mind using technology to help students.  I  think it is a great idea.  However, I do believe in having a teacher involved.  While learning things on your on is a good thing, so is having someone there to help you.

I believe you need to bring old methods together and new methods together.   Sometimes we want to change things that don't need to be changed.  I believe this can be another example of that.  If something not broken, don't fix it.  I don't believe that teacher are not teaching correctly.  I believe it is the students and their parents fault for not getting involved.

The video Welcome to My PLE!  was very informative on different ways to have school lessons.  I really like the front page where she has all the different sites to go to.   It's kind of like a desktop for school related items.  Her PLE(Personal Learning Enviroment) is a lot different then mine.  I was amazed that she was that young and knew all that.  I would say that the only time our PLE is similar is when I am in EDM 310.

Some of my favorite PLE come from twitter, google, and edm310blogspot.  Some of the people that have been a help to me on Twitter is @wmchamberlain, @MrCapps, and @MichaelOakwood.  These people have answered questions for me when I have run into problems.  I will just ask a question on twitter and usually one of them will answer it for me.  http://www.edm310.blogspot.com/ has taught me a lot about what I will need when I become a teacher.  It has also showed me things to expect when I become a teacher.  I will probably follow what the students are doing on this website as long as I am able.  When I get my first job I will come back to this website and read some of the things that I have learned just in case I forget about some of the things I have been taught.  www.google.com is a great website for any question that you have.  Anytime I have a question I ask google first.  It usually has answers for any type of question you have.

Michael Staton and Bill Feritten both agree that they don't like smartboards.   Michael says that smart boards are a waste of money.  Bill Feriten says that the white board where useless when he used them the prior semester.  Here are some links that go against what they say:

C4K Summary

My first kid that I had for C4K was Claudia.  Claudia made a list of things about herself.  She said that she never had stitches or any broken bones.  She also said that her favorite food was mac and cheese.  I told her that mac and cheese is an "awesome food".  I also told her that I hope she continues to have good luck with the lack of stitches and broken bones.
My second kid was Francis.  He wrote about baseball on his blog.  There was a girl that was stung by a bee while they where playing.  I told him that I hope he has fun playing baseball.  I also told him that I had never seen anyone get stung by a bee while they where batting.

My third kid's name was Mary.  Like Francis, she also wrote about baseball.  She talked about how Cola came to play with them.  She said that Cola had told them to keep practicing until they came back.   I told her that I thought baseball was a fun sport to play.  I also told her that they gave her good advice when they told her to keep practicing.

I tried to have a positive attitude when I commented on my kid's blog.  I also told them that I enjoyed reading their blog, and that I hope they have good luck in the future.

My podcast project was really fun to do.  It has been my favorite project so far.  I like the fact that you can be creative in all sorts of ways.  Making the video feels like your doing a movie.  I love doing stuff like that.  I could do podcast even if it was not for school.

Podcast Collection is an article that explains how to use a podcast.  Judy Scarf explains that a podcast can be very helpful in any subject.  She also explains how that information can be used to show millions of people on the Internet.  At the end of the article there is a link that explains how to do a podcast.

The Education Podcast Network is an article that focuses on how to bring podcast and many teachers together.  There goal is for the teachers to be able to help other teachers with their ideas.   They can create a podcast that explains some  teaching strategies.  I believe that this is a good idea.  I believe this will give teachers many options  on how to do things.  You never know when a good idea might help your classroom.

In the video Podcasting In The Classroom, Harry Dell explains how a podcast in the classroom can be beneficial.  He explains how students can work outside of the classroom on a podcast.  He also mentions how parents can see what the kids are doing in the classroom.  I think he is correct on his view of the podcast in the classroom.  It will get be more creative for the students.  This is something that kids will love to do.

I learned from 100 Ways to Use Your iPod to Learn and Study Better, that a student can download  audio notes  for subjects like Business, Sociology, nursing and many more.    I have learned many ways that a podcast can be helpful in my future as a teacher.   Any job that a person has just started, that person would want to know as much as possible going into that field of work.  I will make sure that I allow podcast to be a benefit to me when I start teaching.

C4T # 2

I was assigned to Allanah King's(AKA The Dragonsinger) blog. First of all, I just realized that her name was dragonsinger and not dragonslayer; sorry for that dragonsinger. I read two of her blogs. The first one was about using apps on the iPhone. She had recommended one that was called Instagram. It was an app about putting things such as pictures all together on one program, and being able to send them to any website like facebook. I commented on her post saying the following:

My name is Jude Sanford and I was assign to do a summary of your post on my blog. I should have it posted by the end of next week at http://sanfordjudeedm310.blogspot.com/. I did go the link for Instagram, and it showed me another example of why I should get an iPhone. It was a pretty cool app to look at. I would love to be able to put all the pictures together and share it with others. Hope you continue to find more apps with your iPhone.

On the next blog, she wrote about her classroom setting. She put a tent in her classroom for her students to learn in and have creativity. I thought that was one of the coolest things I ever heard of in a classroom. I commented her the following:

You got to be one of the coolest teachers there is. I have never even thought of a classroom like that. I can see how it could really be enjoyable for students to have tents in their classroom. This has to make them feel like they are at home. I don’t believe every class could be like this because jobs on the outside want be like that. I can see how having some classes like this could make it comfortable and exciting for the students. I’m sure they appreciate you for doing this.
